Locked ECU? Start here

Unlock it, then tune it.

Late-model Dodge, BMW, and GM ship with locked, encrypted ECUs the factory won't let anyone touch. We unlock the controller so it can be read and flashed — the gateway to a Stage 1 dyno tune and everything after. Drop the car off or mail us the ECU.

ECU unlocks · FAQ

Common questions.

What an unlock actually is, what we support, and how it works.

What is an ECU / PCM unlock, and why do I need one?

Late-model Dodge, BMW, and GM controllers ship write-locked from the factory, so no one can read or reflash them. We unlock the ECU so it can be read, flashed, and tuned. On a locked car it's the required first step before any custom tune.

Is the unlock permanent, and does it hurt the car?

It's a one-time unlock that persists for the life of the vehicle. The unlock by itself doesn't change how the car drives — your factory calibration stays intact until you actually tune it.

Which makes and years can you unlock?

Dodge 2015+ (encrypted PCM), BMW 2010–2020 (Bosch DME — bootmod3 compatible), and GM Chevrolet / GMC 2019–2023 gas V8 trucks and SUVs (non-Global B E90 / E93 ECM). We confirm exact fitment by VIN before any work.

Can I drop off or mail in the ECU?

Both. Book a morning drop-off and bring the car or the removed ECU to the shop, or ship the ECU in and we unlock it and send it back — return shipping is on us. GM is drop-off only.

Does unlocking void my warranty?

Any ECU modification can affect your factory powertrain warranty, and unlocking is intended for off-road / closed-course use where applicable. We'll walk you through it before anything is done — see our disclaimer.

How long does it take?

Drop-offs are same-day on most vehicles. Mail-in unlocks are typically returned 2–3 business days after the ECU arrives.
