Common questions

Before you book.

The questions every customer asks the first time. If yours isn't here, call us — (615) 730-8654.

Will this void my factory warranty?

Federal law (Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act) says the dealer has to prove the modification caused the failure before denying a warranty claim. In practice: powertrain warranty is the risk surface. Body, electrical, suspension — unaffected. We can talk through your specific car and what to expect.

Can the dealer detect the tune?

For most platforms we tune, the ECU stores a tune-flag the dealer can read. We can usually return-to-stock before a scheduled dealer visit and re-flash after — included free as part of any tune we did. Some BMWs and Porsches log boost/ignition events that persist even after stock-revert; we'll tell you up front if your platform is on that list.

What if the tune blows my engine?

Stage 1 maps on a healthy stock engine, with the recommended fuel, do not blow engines. Our maps are built and proven for safe AFR + ignition timing on every platform we sell. The risk vectors are: skipping the pre-tune health check (we offer one for $129), running the wrong octane, or stacking unsupported mods. We scope all three before you pay.

What octane / fuel do I need after the tune?

Stage 1 maps require the octane listed on the tune card (usually 91 or 93). Stage 2 commonly requires 93 + a specific supporting-mod set we'll confirm with you. Run lower octane than spec and the ECU pulls timing to protect the engine — you lose the power you paid for. We don't ship a 93-octane tune to a customer running 87.

How long does the appointment take?

Stage 1: 1–2 hours in the bay (read your file → flash your map → quick run-check).

Can the tune be reverted?

Yes. We keep a copy of your factory file. Stock-revert is free for any platform we tuned — just call ahead and we'll have the file ready when you come in.

Do I get dyno numbers with a flash tune?

A standard flash doesn't include dyno time — it's a separate session. Want real before-and-after pulls on our chassis dyno? Add a dyno session ($349) and you'll leave with a printed sheet of your car's actual HP, torque, and AFR.

I don't see my car in the picker. Now what?

We've got tune files for roughly 1,000 engines and only show what we can actually flash. If your car isn't listed, it's not an off-the-shelf flash for us yet. Email us with year, make, model, and engine and we'll quote it.

My Dodge / BMW / GM ECU is locked — do I need it unlocked first?

Late-model Dodge (2015+), BMW (2010–2020), and GM trucks ship with write-locked ECUs that have to be unlocked before we can flash a custom map. We handle that in-house — see ECU unlocks for the makes we support, pricing, and drop-off vs mail-in. Once it's unlocked, your tune flashes like any other.

What's the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2?

Stage 1: safe map for stock-or-near-stock cars on pump gas. Stage 2: mapped for supporting mods (intake, downpipe, intercooler, possibly fuel system) — call us to scope.

What happens if I cancel?

Full refund up to 48 hours before your appointment. Inside 48 hours it's non-refundable, but you can reschedule to another slot at no charge — we don't charge reschedule fees. Once we've started building your map, it's non-refundable — that work doesn't get undone.
