Dyno tuning, done on the rollers.
A custom dyno tune is calibration developed on your car, under load, on our in-house chassis dyno in Nashville — fuel and timing adjusted run by run, air/fuel and knock watched live, and the result measured before you leave. Not a file emailed to you and hoped for.
Why tuning on a dyno beats a tune in your inbox.
A remote or mail-order tune is a map written for an assumed combination — assumed fuel, assumed weather, assumed mods, assumed health. It cannot feel your car, cannot watch knock behave under real load, and cannot react to what your specific engine actually does.
On the dyno, the car is held under load while we work. We can see detonation as it starts, watch air/fuel through the whole curve, and correct it in the same session. On a cammed engine — where idle quality and part-throttle manners are the hard part — that difference is immediate and obvious.
Remote tune
Generic base map, no load testing, no live knock data, no measured result. Problems surface later, on the street.
Dyno tune
Developed on your car under load, verified pull by pull, and handed over with a printed horsepower, torque and AFR sheet.
What that gap is worth.
A customer brought us a cammed 2016 HEMI that had been tuned remotely over email and never ran right — with driveability issues the original tuner could not solve. Tuned in person on the dyno, the problems went away and the car made 50 horsepower more than the previous tune had found. That power was already in the engine. It had just never been accessed.
Erin knocked it out of the park! Was able to fix my issues and on top of that was able to get an additional 50 HP more than what the other tuner got.
What a custom dyno tune includes.
- Health check first. We look the car over before it goes on the rollers. The dyno is where problems get caught, not caused.
- Baseline pull. A real starting number, measured on the same dyno under the same conditions as the finished tune.
- Calibration under load. Fuel, timing and load tables worked run by run with air/fuel and knock monitored live.
- Driveability, not just peak. Idle, part throttle and transitions get the same attention as the big number — a car you can actually drive.
- Printed sheet. Wheel horsepower, torque curve and AFR trace. You are welcome to watch every pull.
What it costs.
Your tier depends on the platform. Pick your car on the tunes page to see exact pricing, or call and we will tell you straight.
Platforms on our dyno.
LS and LT GM platforms, HEMI and Hellcat, Coyote and Ford, modern European turbo, and plenty that does not fit a category. We also tune standalone engine management and older platforms that most shops will not touch.
One limitation worth stating up front: our chassis dyno handles two-wheel-drive vehicles only — rear- or front-wheel drive. We do not tune all-wheel drive on the dyno, and we do not test motorcycles. Call and we will point you somewhere good if that is your car.
Dyno tuning, answered.
What is dyno tuning?
ECU calibration developed while the car runs under load on a chassis dynamometer. Rather than loading a generic file, the tuner adjusts fuel, timing and load tables run by run — watching air/fuel and knock in real time — and confirms the result with measured horsepower and torque.
How much does dyno tuning cost in Nashville?
A Custom Dyno Tune here is $799 Standard, $1,099 Performance-Lite and $1,499 Performance, with exotic platforms quoted after we scope the car. A dyno session on its own — baseline or verification pulls, no tune — is $349.
How long does it take?
Most custom dyno tunes are a single-day appointment. Unusual combinations, forced-induction changes or fuel-system work can take longer. We schedule by appointment so the dyno and the tuner are yours for the session.
Can you fix a tune another shop did?
Yes, and it is one of the most common jobs we take. We measure what the car is actually making, check air/fuel and knock, and recalibrate from there. Owners often pick up real power the previous tune left on the table.
Do you tune AWD cars or motorcycles?
No. Our chassis dyno is two-wheel-drive only, and we do not test motorcycles. If your car is all-wheel drive, call us and we will point you in the right direction.
Will I get a dyno sheet?
Yes — wheel horsepower, the torque curve and the air/fuel trace, printed. Wheel horsepower is what actually reaches the pavement, and it is the honest currency of tuning.
