BMW 335i / M340i tune. Nashville.
The N55 (335i, 535i) and B58 (M240i, M340i, Z4) twin-scroll single-turbo straight-six is one of the most tune-responsive platforms BMW makes. Stage 1 alone is good for 70–100 wheel hp on stock cars. The platform was conservatively tuned from the factory — there's real headroom available.
Every Carma tune includes.
Real prices, no dyno-number runaround. Here's what comes with every flash — at no extra charge.
What we do for the 335i / m340i.
Stage 1 unlocks boost, timing, and fueling across the RPM band. We've mapped N55 cars from stock 335i daily drivers to hybrid-turbo Stage 2+ builds. B58 is similar but newer — even more headroom on 93 octane.
This platform is three eras of the same idea: N54 (2007–2013 twin-turbo), N55 (single twin-scroll), and the modern B58 — the same engine that powers the Mk5 Supra. All three respond hard to calibration. One wrinkle on newer cars: 2021+ BMW DMEs ship locked and need a one-time bench unlock, which we do in-house the same day. Load-based BMW tables mean these maps adapt to weather and fuel rather than running static.
- Stock file pulled and archived (free stock-revert anytime)
- Custom-mapped per engine code (N55 and B58 use different programmers)
- Safe map flashed and road-tested in-house
- Flex-fuel and bench-flash support for built engines
- Lifetime support on revisions

Mods we pair with this tune.
The straight-six recipe is consistent across generations — restriction out, cooling in, ethanol optional:
- Catted downpipe — the biggest single unlock on every generation of this engine.
- FMIC + charge pipes — stock coolers soak and stock plastic pipes pop; both solved cheaply.
- E85 blends — B58 and N54/N55 all love ethanol; blend ceilings scoped per fuel system.
- Walnut blast (N54/N55) — direct-injection valve cleaning — restores the airflow the map expects.
- ZF8 / DCT calibration — shift clamp and speed matched on automatic cars.
No dyno-number games, no hard sell. Drive it, and if the tune isn't for you, we revert to stock at no charge. That's how confident we are in the map.
Common questions.
Will BMW detect the tune?
Same answer as the M3/M4 — BMW logs some boost/ignition events. Free stock-revert before any planned dealer visit.
How much can I make on the stock turbo?
N55 stock turbo: ~400 wheel hp on Stage 2. B58 stock turbo: ~450 wheel hp on Stage 2.
Is bigger turbo the next step?
Yes — hybrid turbo or full upgrade. We've tuned hybrid N55 builds past 500 wheel hp.
How long does the appointment take?
Stage 1: 2 hours. Stage 2 with mods to install: half-day to full day.
My car is 2021 or newer — can you flash it?
Yes. Newer DMEs ship locked; we bench-unlock in-house (one-time, permanent) and then flash like any other BMW. Same unlock service we run for the whole BMW family — built into the appointment.
Do you tune the older N54 twin-turbo cars?
Gladly — the N54 is one of the great tuning platforms ever made. Stock-turbo maps, bolt-on builds, and upgraded-turbo projects are all well-trodden paths here.
Does xDrive change the tune?
Not meaningfully — same engine map, and the AWD system simply puts it down better. Launch behavior gets a small calibration nod on xDrive automatics.
