Honda Civic Type R tune. Nashville.
The K20C1 2.0T in the Civic Type R (FK8 and FL5) responds aggressively to a properly mapped tune. Stage 1 alone picks up 60+ wheel hp on stock turbo + 93 octane. Stage 2 with downpipe + intercooler + flex fuel pushes past 420.
Every Carma tune includes.
Real prices, no dyno-number runaround. Here's what comes with every flash — at no extra charge.
What we do for the civic type r.
Stage 1 unlocks the K20C1's safe envelope. The platform was conservatively tuned from the factory — Honda left real headroom on 93 octane. Stage 2 with bolt-ons + flex fuel is well-trodden territory.
The K20C1 is the most tune-responsive four-cylinder Honda ever shipped, and its known weakness isn't the engine — it's heat. The FK8's front-mounted intercooler soaks on track, and the factory calibration responds by pulling timing hard. Our maps manage intake temps honestly instead of pretending the problem away, and the FL5's improved cooling gets its own calibration rather than a copied FK8 file.

Mods we pair with this tune.
Type R mods target the platform's real constraint — temperature — then airflow:
- Intercooler upgrade — the fix for the FK8’s track heat-soak; the single most important mod.
- Catted downpipe — frees the K20C1’s exhaust side; mapped with Stage 2.
- Intake — modest gains, great induction sound, part of the Stage 2 package.
- E85 blend fueling — ethanol’s cooling effect is worth double on a heat-limited platform.
- Clutch (big-torque builds) — the 6MT holds Stage 1-2; past that, budget the clutch.
No dyno-number games, no hard sell. Drive it, and if the tune isn't for you, we revert to stock at no charge. That's how confident we are in the map.
Common questions.
Will Honda detect the tune?
Honda has a tune-detection method on some Type R platforms. Free stock-revert before any planned dealer visit.
Stock turbo limit?
Stock turbo is good to ~420 wheel hp on Stage 2 + supporting mods. Past that, hybrid turbo is the next step.
6-speed manual — does it hold up?
Yes for Stage 1 and Stage 2 power. Sustained high-output builds may need clutch upgrade.
How long does the appointment take?
Stage 1: 2 hours. Stage 2 with mods to install: half-day.
Will it still heat-soak at track days?
Less — the map manages IAT-referenced timing so the car protects itself and recovers fast. Pair the tune with an intercooler and the FK8’s track problem is essentially solved. The FL5 fares better stock.
Is the FL5 tune different from the FK8?
Same engine family, different cooling and calibration baseline — the FL5 gets its own map, not a recycled FK8 file. Both leave same-day.
Do I need 93 octane?
The Stage 1 map is built for 93. E85 blends go further — ethanol’s charge-cooling is tailor-made for this platform’s heat constraint. We map to the fuel you’ll actually run.
